A device that just gets "hot" is harder to sell — and harder to support after the sale — than one that can tell the user exactly what state it is in. The Classic Plus (model DS-18) is built around a three-stage, color-coded temperature system specifically to solve this.
What the three lights actually mean
Instead of a single heat setting, the device signals its current state clearly:
- Blue only — the device is powered on but still at room temperature, before heating begins.
- Blue + Orange — comfort temperature, approximately 55°C / 131°F (±5°C / 9°F).
- Blue + Orange + Red — hot temperature, approximately 75°C / 167°F (±5°C / 9°F).
This matters more than it might first appear: a customer (or your own support team, months later) can look at the device and know exactly what temperature band it is operating in, without needing to guess or reference a manual.
The reminder and shutdown protection sequence
Beyond the lights, the device runs a built-in timing sequence during use: a beep every 2 minutes as a standard reminder, switching to continuous beeping after 35 minutes of uninterrupted use, and — after 40 minutes of continuous operation — an automatic 15-minute shutdown protection mode during which the device cannot be restarted at all.
This is a meaningful distinction from devices that rely purely on the user remembering to take a break: the protection is active by design, not an optional habit the customer has to maintain themselves.
